Located on the Istrian peninsula in Croatia, within easy reach of Budapest, Camp California offers all the amenities of an American Summer Camp, without having to cross the Atlantic. All campers and staff will communicate in English, and children are able to improve their English abilities with native English speakers from the US, England, and Australia, as well as make friends from around the world.

Campers

The residental camp will host 160 children from throughout Europe and the United States. Their ages range from 8-16, and the camper to counselor ratio is 6:1. The Teen Camps are for children from age 14-17, and the camper to counselor ratio is 9:1. All children need a minimum level of English ability, as all communication at the camp is in English. There will be Hungarian counselors present however, in case of emergencies or parent contacts.

Facilities

Campers will be housed in 16 cabins, which hold up to 12 children + 2-3 counselors each. The camp has numerous buildings for the different activities, as well as dining halls, an infirmary, and main office.

Philosophy

Camp California offers a safe environment for children, where they will make friends, learn new skills and gain a better appreciation for diversity. The focus of the camp is to develop a cohesive cabin group, and build a sense of cooperation to live and play together. We will always encourage respect for others, and involvement over competition. Lastly, smiles, happiness and fun are definitely required!

Round-trip bus transportation from Budapest to camp is also available for an additional fee. Pocket money and insurance are not included.
