Camp Counselors Canada

Camp Counselors Canada is another exciting cultural exchange program from CCUSA. We give you the opportunity to work at a Canadian summer camp for 8-10 weeks during the North American summer.

There are 800 residential and day camps in Canada, which are very similar to the camps in the U.S. The camps are spread out across eight provinces with the largest population of camps in Ontario. There are over 300 summer camps currently operating in Ontario. The majority of the other 500 camps are located in Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an amazing summer experience. You will form close friendships and live in a beautiful setting in one of the most unspoiled parts of the world.

We offer two great program options, with the possibility to continue working before and/or after camp has finished.

  • Counselors – eight to ten weeks (May/June – August/September)
  • Support Staff – eight to ten weeks (May/June – August/Sept.)

Reputation and Safety

CCUSA, working with our award winning Canadian based partner, NYQUEST, is here to help you with this truly amazing experience! With over 30 years of experience, combined, you can be assured that you will receive only the best level of personal service and support before you leave and once in Canada.

Insurance

NYQUEST will organize and purchase 10 weeks worth of full-coverage health insurance for each CCEP participant.

The insurance will start the day that you travel to Canada. Your insurance coverage will be provided by StudentGuard. You will be able to extend the insurance after the 10 week period for a small additional fee.

Placement

Placement can occur at any time up until June 1st as per the Program Agreement. NYQUEST will inform you of your placement and dates you are due at camp as soon as it has been secured. In the extremely unlikely case that we cannot find a placement for you, you will get a full refund of all fees paid to CCUSA.

Background Check

All counselors and support staff need to get a criminal background check. If you are not sure of how to apply for your criminal background check, CCUSA will assist you with this. You must submit the original to our office prior to your departure to camp.

Flights and Travel

You are responsible for your own travel costs to and from Canada. But you receive free transportation from the airport to the orientation site upon your arrival to Canada, and your camp covers your travel from orientation to camp. Your orientation site will either be Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver. You will be notified of the location of your orientation when you have been placed. You're then responsible for your travel from camp back home (or to your onward destination).

Visas/Work Permit

All Hungarian CCEP participants will receive a Temporary Work Permit. This permit will allow you to work and travel in Canada for 3 months. If you want to continue traveling throughout Canada after your work permit expires then you can apply for a travel extension. The extension costs $75 Canadian. After you receive your work placement, NYQUEST will apply for the Temporary Work Permit on your behalf. NYQUEST will send you all the paperwork you need in order to apply for the official work permit at the Canadian border when you arrive. You no longer need to apply for the visa here in Hungary.

Orientation

You will participate in an orientation when you arrive in Canada. NYQUEST will inform you of your orientation date and location as soon as your placement has been organized. NYQUEST will provide two night's free accommodations when you arrive in Canada. You should book your flight so that you arrive in Canada two days before your placement starts. During the orientation you will meet other international staff who will be working at your camp and you will receive a free Bank Account and your Canadian Social Insurance Number.

Other FREE Stuff

You will also receive a bank account with no fees for the first 3 months, so you will have easy access to your pocketmoney throughout your stay.

You also get a free phone card for calling home to your parents upon your arrival and throughout the summer.
