About the Visa waiver program (arriving to the US as a tourist)

Effective 12 January 2009, any citizen from Hungary coming to the United States on a 90 day tourist/business visa must obtain an approved travel authorization from the US Department of Homeland Security's Electronic System fro Travel Authorization (ESTA).

Please see the documents below on this procedure.  You can obtain more information by referring to the websites listed in the document.

Federal Register /Vol. 73, No. 220./

Travel on the Visa Waiver Program

This would apply to any participant from Hungary who is planning to travel in and out of the US during their 30 days grace period or at any time they are not active on their J-1 visa.   Please note:  this is NOT a substitute for one of our J1 visas.   It is illegal to work in the US if you are only on a tourist/business visa.   Anyone caught doing so would be deported.

What to do if you lose your I-94 Card:

You have Legal Rights as a participant on the J-1 Visa program! Read the following State Department brochure for more information on the laws and regulations that protect YOU while you are in the US.
